RELEASE DATE: Late 2007 from Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video.
BEHIND THE SCENES: Written and produced by Darwyn Cooke and Stan Berkowitz; produced by Bruce Timm; executive produced by Sander Schwartz and Gregory Noveck.
THE SCOOP: One of the most critically acclaimed comic series of the past decade is making its way to DVD players later this year.
With a 70-minute running time, it won't be possible to cover all the nuances and storylines contained in the series' original six issues. However, viewers can expect to see the same celebration of DC's Silver Age that made the comic such a fan favorite. Many of DC's superheroes will make appearances in the feature, especially the heavy hitters like Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash and Green Lantern.
Hal Jordan remains the chief protagonist of the story, as he makes a heroic journey from brave fighter pilot to defender of truth and justice across the galaxy.
Voice actors are already hard at work bringing DC's greatest superheroes to life.
The role of Hal Jordan is voiced by David Boreanaz from "Angel" and "Bones," with Brooke Shields lending her voice to Jordan's ladylove, Carol Ferris.
Other actors rumored include Kyle MacLachlan ("Twin Peaks") as Superman, Lucy Lawless ("Battlestar Galactica") as Wonder Woman and Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") as The Flash.
One of the most beloved aspects of DC: The New Frontier , Cooke's art, will also be retained for the animated adaptation.
"The hope with all the films is that they will stick close to the spirit of the comic material," says Executive Producer Noveck.
"The upcoming 'New Frontier' film will look very close to Darwyn Cooke's versions of the characters, something helped along by the fact that Cooke is storyboarding the film."
